“Ah there you are (Name)…we need to discuss something.” You looked up seeing a handsome man with dark blue hair and blue eyes, the left eye being a paler shade then the right.  He had a large burn scar on the left side of his face, thin split-end eyebrows and a mole on his chin.

“Oh-oh…that doesn’t sound good.”

This man was your husband Emperor Hakuryuu Ren.  You had been married to the emperor of the Kou Empire for little over two years and had been trying to have a child and little over twelve weeks ago you found out that you were carrying the emperor’s first child.

“It is something to celebrate…I suppose.”

“Oh?”

“My two friends King Alibaba and Lady Morgiana are getting married. I just received a letter inviting us to their wedding in Balbadd.”  The first time you saw your husband’s two friends Alibaba and Morgiana was at your wedding.  You weren’t close to them either since you’ve only met them a handful of times since your wedding.

“Ah so are we going to attend the King of Balbadd’s wedding?”

“Yes, it would be rude not to attend since he came to our wedding. We’re leaving at the end of the week I hope that’s enough time for you pack everything.”

“Hakuryuu is something wrong?”

“I don’t particularly want to go to this weeding.”

“Why?”

“It’s complicated (Name).” Was your husband in love King Alibaba Saluja’s fiancée…?  No…no…no, your beloved couldn’t be in love with the soon to be Queen Morgiana after all he had asked you to marry him and become the empress of the Kou Empire.

“…Shouldn’t you be happy that your close friends are getting married.  King Alibaba and Lady Morgiana were so happy for us at our wedding.” You smiled cupping the emperor’s face.

You didn’t like your husband silence and you didn’t like the fact that Hakuryuu refused to look you in the eyes.

“Oh I understand now…” You removed your hands from the emperor’s cheeks and took a seat on your side of the carriage.  “You’re in love with King Alibaba’s fiancée… Morgiana aren’t you, Hakuryuu?” How could you not have noticed it sooner? You felt stupid for not noticing the way Hakuryuu looked at Miss Morgiana until know.

Immediately you felt sorry for yourself and the baby growing in your stomach.  You felt sorry because most likely this child was not convinced out of love like you thought he or she was.  Now you were sure if you wanted to tell Hakuryuu about your pregnancy anymore.  You had grown up in a household where mommy and daddy no longer loved one another and you didn’t want that for your child.  You didn’t want this child growing up with all the screaming, cursing, and death threats that you did.

“I can’t lie to you…yes I love her but there is a very good reason.”

“But you love me more, right?”

“(Name)…I-”

“Y-You took way too long to respond to me, I’m going to ride in the other carriage for the rest of the journey.” You knew it would be odd for the emperor and empress to arrive in different carriages but right now you didn’t care. “Driver could you please stop” You shouted popping your head of the window and as soon as the words left your lips the driver brought the carriage to a slow rolling halt. Hakuryuu wasn’t sure what to say in this situation and so he kept silent, something that you hated him doing.

“If you loved another woman you should have never proposed to me Hakuryuu.  I don’t want this unless you can be completely mine nor do I want to be stuck in a loveless marriage like my parents…getting a divorce very simple…emperor.” Hakuryuu eyes widen when you said the word divorce but perhaps was stung more was you addressing him as emperor and not by his name.

“(Name), please come back into the carriage.”

“I think we need some time away from one another, emperor…please do not speak to me until we reach Balbadd.” You didn’t want to look at Hakuryuu’s face since you were scared anger might overtake your body and you would try to strangle your husband. Hakuryuu’s head fell; he should have smiled at you and said of “course I’m not in love with Morgiana” and “you’re the one who I love, you silly girl why would think otherwise?” but instead he just had to say that loved her.

“I’m such an idiot…damnit why couldn’t I have just explained that she was my first love?” Hakuryuu threw his head back mentally cursing placing his hands over his eyes.  There was no doubt in Hakuryuu’s mind that he loved you the most but he had just given you the impression that he only married you because it was wise politically.

You closed the carriage door and noticed the thick blanket on the edge of the seat.  You reached over and wrapped it around you so that you were buddle up not caring that doing this would mess up your outfit and then you reached for your hairpin and pulled it out letting your (h/c) locks cascade down your back.

‘I don’t know if you’ll be born a girl or born a boy, but your mama has one wish for you no matter your gender.’ You thought placing a hand over your stomach and closed your eyes. ‘If you are born a boy or a girl, then your mama wants you to marry a young woman or man because you love her not because it’s politically wise and speak your mind...’ You knew it was only a matter of a few simple months before the baby bump would emerge and wither you liked it or not everyone would know that you’re pregnant.

Just liked you asked Hakuryuu left you alone until you reached Balbadd.

“(Name)!?!” Hakuryuu nearly shouted as he caught you in his arms. You felt exhausted because of this pregnancy and sometimes you stumbled.  You hadn’t told your husband about the pregnancy yet because you wanted to be sure that you were far enough in the pregnancy.  Your mother has had miscarriages before in the first trimester and you didn’t want to get Hakuryuu’s hopes up only for you to have a miscarriage.

“I…I’m fine, really.”

“No you’re not…”

“What are you doing!?” Your pupils widen as you felt the emperor place one arm under your legs and the other against your back “Obliviously I’m doing what any carrying husband would do…I’m carrying you to the room we’re staying in.” he answered scooping you into his arms bridal style and your face began turning crimson by the second., you were supposed to be upset with him.

“I’m going to go send for a doctor.”

“Thank you Alibaba.”

“P-P-P-P”

“Pregnant…the empress is pregnant.”  Alibaba’s doctor said once more slowly to Hakuryuu.  ‘T-There is a tiny human being growing inside my wife’s stomach...’ Hakuryuu gulped ‘Why didn’t (Name) tell me that she is carrying my baby…wait is it even mine!? No of course it’s mine I’m the only man who she has a sexual relationship with.’ Hakuryuu heard footsteps and he looked over his shoulder seeing Alibaba and Morgiana walking towards him.  ‘I’m sure if (Name) knew she was pregnant she would have told me the moment she found out.’  The soon to be married couple gave Hakuryuu a smile and the doctor bowed leaving the three of them to talk alone.

“So what is the situation Hakuryuu? Is your wife going to be alright?”

“Yes she is and the doctor was able to find out what the problem was; well it’s not a problem it’s actually a reason to celebrate.”

“Celebrate?”

“The doctor discovered that (Name) is pregnant, he estimates judging by the size she’s about twelve weeks into the pregnancy. I can’t believe that I’m going to be a father.” Hakuryuu took in a deep breath before giving his two friends an honest wide smile. “Hakuryuu you dog! I didn’t know you had it in you!” Alibaba laughed slapping Hakuryuu on the back and the emperor lightly laughed.

“Congratulations!” Morgiana gave Hakuryuu a light pat on his shoulder.  The newly crowned queen did wonder why you didn’t tell Hakuryuu that you were carrying his child.  Wouldn’t a woman naturally know by twelve weeks that something so important was growing in her own body?

“If you both will excuse me…” Hakuryuu gave them a quick bow before turning around and opening the door leading into the bedroom you both were sharing. Hakuryuu quietly closed the door behind him and looked up seeing you sleeping in the center of the fluffy bed.

“(Name) are you awake?”

“No.”

“Are you sure?”

“Yes.”

“(Name), we need to talk.”

“No we don’t since there is nothing to talk about.”  Hakuryuu knew that he was probably the last person you wanted to see at the moment but he didn’t care for a moment Hakuryuu was going to be selfish. Without another word Hakuryuu walked to his side of the bed and lay down on his side so that your faces were facing one another.

“I wanted to marry Morgiana at one point of my life.”

“. . .”

“One part of me will always love her because she was my first love.”  Hakuryuu inched closer to you little by little as he talked “But you (Name) will always be the love of my life.” All you did was blink and suddenly Hakuryuu’s face was a few inches from yours and you allowed him to kiss you on the lips and once they parted he gave you a sad smile “I’m sorry that I made you doubt my feelings toward for you, I should have told you about my past with Morgiana from the start. I thought that I would never fall in love again, until the day I met you.”

“Hakuryuu”

“. . . Yes?”

“I’m sorry that I overreacted but the thought of you loving another wom-” Hakuryuu smiled and placed his finger over your lips “Don’t apologize; I’m the one who should be apologizing to you.  (Name) you had every right to get upset with me since I was being a, and I quote ‘big stupid idiot’ man again.”

“Hakuryuu, I have something important to tell you.”

“Hmmm?”

“I’m pregnant…which I’m sure that the doctor told you even thought I told him not to tell you since I wanted to be the one to tell Hakuryuu.”

“I can’t wait to be the best father I can be to our child.” Hakuryuu smiled again, only warmer and pulled you into his arms and kissed you on top of our lips. You felt silly that you ever doubted that this man loved you.
